The Arrowhead Model United Nations club recently wrapped up their twenty-fourth annual AHS MUN Conference. The conference took place on November 20th at WCTC with opening ceremonies that began at 8:00 am.
Model UN is a club where students from different schools act as different nations or countries and collaborate to solve different world problems.
“The conference went great for me,” Will Laus, Arrowhead Senior, said. “I was on the Crisis Committee, and I caused a crisis.”
This conference was split up into three separate committees with each working to solve a unique issue. The General Assembly’s topic this year required members to collaborate and discuss ways to protect and restore the Amazon Rainforest; the Security Committee tackled illegal weapons trafficking where members discussed issues in areas such as Central, South, and East Asia, Africa and Syria; and the Fictional Crisis Committee discussed a hypothetical dilemma where time traveling technology falls into the wrong hands.
“It was very chaotic and fun,” Marina Chen, Arrowhead Senior and club leader, said. “During the time traveling dilemma, we sent ancient Egyptian servants to Marie Curie’s house.”
The Model UN club is now winding down for the duration of exam season.
