Arrowhead Gymnasts Set State as Goal
The 2013 Arrowhead girls gymnastics season started on Monday, November, with their first practice.
Arrowhead has gone to state every year since the program started and the team says they don’t plan to stop this year. The team this year has goals to continue the tradition to get to state and they also want to win the AHS invite.
Bailey Shamion, a junior on Arrowhead’s varsity gymnastics team, said, “I am so excited for this season. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Shamion also said, “The team looks really good this year. We have a lot of new talent that is coming out.”
Bridget Pendergast, a senior on the Arrowhead’s varsity gymnastics team, said, “We will be good this year. Hopefully we’ll go to state.”
Shamion was voted as a captain during the 2012 season, as a sophomore, and she says she hopes to be one again this year.
“As a leader, I want to organize a lot of team bonding events this year and I plan on leading by example. I need to show good leadership to the freshmen,” says Shamion.
Pendergast said, “I will bring a positive attitude to the team and make sure everyone gets along.”
Shamion said, “The team has a lot of potential this year because we have a good amount of returners and new be’s so it should be a good balance.”
Pendergast said the team lost just two seniors to graduation this year and that won’t play a big role this season because the team gained a lot more talent.
Pendergast also said, “Our biggest rivals this year will be Frankego (a mix of gymnasts from Franklin and Muskego.) We hope to beat them at the AHS invite and at state.”
