This year, Cyber Monday was on November 28th.

Cyber Monday is the first Monday after Thanksgiving. This national holiday has online shopping retailers dramatically decreasing their prices on products for one day. This annual sales day was created for those gifting during the holiday season and acts as an encouragement for people to shop online and buy from online retailers.  

Trina Dodge, Arrowhead Advanced Algebra teacher, says “it was for Christmas presents—I buy everything for the year between Wednesday and Monday.”

Brock Rumohr, Arrowhead Art teacher, says, “Mrs. Rumohr does most of the shopping for Xmas, so I don’t usually get involved with Black Friday or Cyber Monday at all.”

Amazon’s deals were on electronics, beauty products, apparel and accessories, home, toys, and pet products. The biggest sales were on electronics saving up to 70% on Alexa devices; on apparel saving up to 50% on select Gap apparel and accessories; home products saving up to 50% on select DASH air fryers and meat thermometers.

Dodge says, “I was disappointed, the sales, in general, were nothing spectacular as they have been in the past.”

The most popular worldwide online retailer is Amazon. This digital marketplace ships physical products and also offers Amazon Music, Amazon Books, Amazon WMS, and Amazon Web Services. 

 Black Friday was on Friday, November 25th. Black Friday is another day after Thanksgiving with discounted prices except it is designated in-store shopping. 

Black Friday deals range widely among all retail stores in-person. The most common place that people shop for Black Friday is Macy’s. Macy’s biggest deals were on Throws (blankets and pillows), Makeup sets, and Columbia Jackets.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday go hand in hand through their day-only sales, but most stores offer weekend-long bargains. 

Dodge, says “I normally do a lot of Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping, but most deals started the week before so I shopped mostly Wednesday and Friday. Amazon also had some early cyber deals a few weeks prior that I did a lot of shopping on as well. Cyber week seems to be the thing now.”
