The Goldbergs is a sitcom about a real family.  It is new to ABC this season and it airs every Tuesday night at 8pm.  The Goldbergs is a show about a family living in California in the 1980’s.  The youngest child, Adam Goldberg, is played by Sean Giambrone.  He videotapes the family doing ridiculous things each episode. During the credits of each episode, you see actual footage (shot by Adam F. Goldberg, the sitcoms creator) of the real Goldberg family doing the same things recreated on that episode.

Beverly Goldberg (played by Wendi McLendon-Covey) is the classic overbearing, over protective, obsessive mom.  She is the worst thing that could happen to a kid’s childhood and reputation at school.  Anybody who watches the Goldbergs can relate to how the kids feel because everybody has some relative or friend who is like Beverly Goldberg.

But Beverly Goldberg is not the only one who is like that, every character is like that.  Everybody knows a Murry Goldberg (played by Jeff Garlin) who is the lazy uninvolved dad.  Erica Goldberg (the oldest child) is played by Hayley Orrantia and she is the self-image obsessed sister.  Barry Goldberg (the middle child) is played by Troy Gentile and he is the not understood middle child who is always trying to be someone else.  Adam Goldberg is the dorky little brother that is just trying to be cool.  Pops is the grandpa who is loved by his grandkids, despite the fact that he is trying to keep up with what they like.  He never quite gets it right, which produces hilarious lines, for instance: “Who are you going to telephone?”

Even though you sometimes know what crazy thing one of the Goldbergs is going to do, you will still laugh like crazy when it happens.  But you laugh even harder when you don’t see it coming.
