Picnic Basket fed AHS staff on 4/12

A local restaurant, The Picnic Basket, provided sub sandwiches and other food items for the teachers and school staff, free of charge on April 12.

Tim Weiberg, the owner of the Picnic Basket, did this not only for AHS teachers but also for AHS staff as well.

The Picnic Basket was created in 1987 and Tim acquired ownership of the Picnic Basket during 2008.

The staff at the Picnic Basket started at 3:00 a.m. baking the bread for the sub sandwiches.

The sub sandwiches were delivered to the South Campus Front foyer at 9:20-9:30 a.m. and the sub sandwiches were delivered to the North Campus Front foyer at 9:30-9:40 a.m.

Liz Arsnow, an AHS staff member said, “The Picnic Basket has worked to create deals for a meal and we appreciate them working with our groups.”

The staff at the Picnic Basket gave a free lunch box of a sub sandwich, chips and a cookie to each AHS staff member.

Weiberg said, “We get a lot of support from the community and it was a way to give back to the people who were on the front-line just like us as a restaurant.”

The Picnic Basket staff made the sub sandwiches with ham, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, mayo and cheese.

About 225 sub sandwiches were delivered to AHS for the AHS staff.
