Spring is here and one of the spring sports that is coming up is Girls’ Softball.

Emily Martin, the AHS Girls’ Softball Varsity Head Coach, said, “Softball originated in Chicago, with the first official women’s team being organized in 1895, approximately eight years after the game was created for men. The first women’s team was formed at Chicago’s West Division High School.”

Any questions about schedules, tryouts and other softball related information can be addressed to Coach Martin.

Martin said, “The WIAA began sponsoring a softball tournament in 1976.”

Martin says that she enjoys softball and being able to work with the talented softball players in Arrowhead.

Paige Rhynes, a senior said, “I love many things about being in the Arrowhead softball program. I love the feeling of being in a family, especially because I get to spend everyday with these girls. I also love the feeling of hard work and teamwork.”

Girls’ Softball registration will be done in person only with Coach Martin.

Julia Weiler, a senior said, “I really like being a part of Arrowhead’s Girls’ Softball program because I enjoy spending time with my teammates and making memories together. I also think that the program is run very well because we have great coaches. They all show that they care about the players by going out of their way to connect with the girls on the team.”
