New changes for Arrowhead’s Alpine Ski Teams

During the late 1980’s Arrowhead’s Alpine Ski Teams were created to compete and race against other high schools that have Alpine Skiing teams.  Arrowhead’s Alpine Ski Teams are about racing. The Alpine Ski Teams tryouts start in mid-December and practices will start in late December.

Reineking said, “Students interested in joining the team register through the Athletic Office.”

An Organization and Registration meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 p.m.

Todd Reineking, an Arrowhead school counselor, is the head coach for the Alpine Ski Teams this year. He said, “With COVID-the team will need to make social distancing accommodations and the number of students that race will be slightly limited. Being the only outdoor sport in winter, we are lucky not to be impacted severely.”

Reineking said, “The top half of the conference qualifies for the state championship held in LaCrosse February 13th-15th. ”

The returning skiers for the girls Alpine Ski Team  are Emily von Heimburg, a senior, Ella Schieble, a junior and sophomores, Isabelle Schneider, Addison Koper and Ellie Siepmann. The returning skiers for the boys Alpine Ski Team are  seniors Tanner Bence and Caelen Nickel and juniors Alex Deubel, Ryan Guetzke, Blake Bence and Alex Swinehart.

Races are on both Wednesday and Thursday and they start at 6:00 p.m.

Reineking said, “Arrowhead’s Alpine Ski Team has been competing since 1990.”

One of the places where the races are held is Alpine Valley.
