In Review: Leduc’s

I am a chocoholic, and I have a huge sweet tooth. If I don’t fill my need for chocolate, I become very cranky so a must stop to satisfy my desires is Leduc’s frozen custard. Every time I go to the custard stand, I’m consistently impressed with their fast service, quality of food, and polite staff. Their custard is the best in town and definitely has me tastefully covered when I’m in need of a treat.

My order is always a junior extra thick chocolate shake with pecans, I copied this from my mom, and it is my go-to dessert. I know what you’re thinking, vanilla custard with pecans; what’s so great about that? But it’s more than that. The shake is made with fresh vanilla custard mixed with Hershey’s chocolate sauce topped and with chopped up pecans. Blended to the perfect thickness, the custard must be eaten with a spoon because it won’t fit up the straw.

The restaurant first opened in 1980 by my great grandpa’s parents and remains family owned to this day. They have a wide variety of choices including the flavor of the day dish. Not only does Leduc’s have all the custard flavors you can imagine, but they also make great hamburgers, French fries, cheese curds, and more. Their meals are prepared fresh daily and come out hot and ready to enjoy. I love their cheese curds because they are always warm and crispy. Their hamburgers are a taste you can’t get anywhere else, fresh off the grill with great Wisconsin ingredients. They are very flexible with their meals so you can customize your order exactly how you like it. They offer indoor and outdoor seating which is great for all seasons, especially on a hot summer day.

It’s hard for me to think of something negative to say about this place because every time I go there, I am continually pleased, but if I had to suggest one thing, it would be a more simple parking lot. Leduc’s is very busy so it can be hard to find a parking spot. Their inconvenient parking system could be dangerous especially when there are kids around. Additionally the long line during the summer makes my experiences less enjoyable. The quality is somewhat weak and the flavor not as good as usual.

But the crazy parking lot never discourages me from making the stop. The wait can be frustrating and the flavor unsatisfying on a busy day, but no other place can pull off a junior extra thick chocolate shake with pecans like they do.  I need my chocolate and I can’t think of a better place to satisfy my needs.
