Block Classes Offer Pros and Cons

Block classes at Arrowhead High School are prominent in student schedules at Arrowhead.  The Arrowhead students have had block classes in their schedules for all of their high school careers.  Block classes are offered in both mandatory and electives.

Jack Dambeck, a senior, says, “I didn’t enjoy block classes because they were way too long and usually I don’t like the teachers or the classes.”  Dambeck also says, “My favorite block class was Zoology, because I liked Mr. Hall and it was an interesting topic to learn about.”

John Widish, a senior, says, “I didn’t really like block classes because they are way too long in one day.”  Widish also says, “My favorite block class was gym because it was easy and fun during the school day.”

Haley Thomas, a senior, says, “I like block classes because you get through more information in less time.”  Thomas also says, “My favorite was the English/Social Studies block, because I liked having to take less exams and I liked the teacher a lot.”

Sam Sellner, a senior, says, “I didn’t like block classes because they are too long for one day.”  Sellner also says, “My favorite block was woods because you didn’t have to do a lot of work, but it was fun to make things.”

Alisha Arndt, a senior, says, “I sometimes liked it and sometimes didn’t.  It was nice because it was over in a semester, but the two hours every day or every other day is really long and boring.”  Arndt also says, “My favorite block class was probably freshman year, the English/Government/Geography block because it was all the same people so we became really close and had a lot of fun with it.”

Amy Stephens, a senior, says, “I didn’t like block classes because they were way too long to just sit in one class and especially if you don’t like the topic.”  Stephens also says, “Zoology was my favorite block, because we learned about a lot of interesting things and it was fun to dissect animals.”

Colin Tetkoski, a senior, says, “For the most part I liked block classes, but they can get boring at times.”  Tetkoski also says, “My favorite block class was woods because it was fun to actually build something.”

Grant Straka, a senior, says, “I didn’t like blocks because they are way too long for one day.”  Straka also says, “Anatomy was my favorite block, the teacher was really cool and it was a really interesting class.”

Luke Reinhart, a senior, says, “I like block classes if it was a class that I liked, but if it was a math class, I don’t like them because its too long for just a boring topic.”  Reinhart also says, “Advanced Autos was my favorite block, because I really like cars and working on them.”
