Arrowhead Tennis Players Participate in Tennis Camp

Starting from June 11th, from 8:00 to noon, tennis players of all ages will be found on the Arrowhead tennis courts practicing drills or having matches. These players signed up starting from January in order to participate in this camp. Players pay between $80 – $285 depending on age to participate. Players signed up to better themselves and to get exercise or have fun; Rohit Bakayat, a participant of this camp, says “I joined because I thought it would be fun.”. This five week program, hosted by Jeremy Schlitt, the Arrowhead tennis team coach,  ends on July 17th.

The camp is not only a place where players do drill and matches though.  The coach, Jeremy Schlitt, discusses singles and doubles strategies.

The camp has practice times for all ages starting with the 8 – 10 year olds at 8:00 to Noon on certain days,  the 11 – 13 year olds practicing at 9:00 – 10:20 on certain days, and with adults practicing from 9:00 – 10:20 on Mondays and Wednesdays. High School Students are start from 10:30 to 12:30.

The players are separated into two groups after being separated into age groups.  Group A practices on Mondays and Wednesdays. Group B practices on Tuesday and Thursdays.  However high schoolers practice on Monday through Thursday. Fridays are reserved for rain days and competitions.

The players are split into different courts based on their skill level in order to practice with similarly skilled players. The coach of the camp, Jeremy Schlitt, works to create “high energy, high focus drills” for all skill groups.

When asked what type of improvement can be made during this camp Coach Schlitt says  “The offseason is the time to make changes to grips and technique. Players can really expect to improve a great deal during the camp.”

The camp tries to maintain a 6:1 student to teacher ratio in order to ensure everyone has the help should the players need it according to the coach.

This year the camp the slots for the camp has been all filled up. This means people can no longer join this summer.   However this camp is a reoccurring event and next years sign ups will begin on January 1st 2019. Sign-ups ends the first week of June. You can find more details on how to participate on arrowheadsummertennis.com.

The coach recommends anyone who wishes to enter the Arrowhead Tennis team in the future to take this camp.

All players interested in competing for the Arrowhead Tennis Teams are encouraged to register.  We have players new to the game up to varsity players. Players are grouped by similar abilities to work on their games.“  the coach says.
