Is it the Quantity or Quality that Counts with the Holidays?

“Holidays are coming around very fast and I like to get my friends presents but at the same time it’s hard because I don’t have much money,” Wesley said.

AHS senior Julia Wesley said, “As a student who works and makes money, I do not like spending it all because my parents make me put half of it into my saving account.”

Wesley says that she always find stores that are cheap with good quality so she can get a varady of items for multiple people, rather than just a few big presents for only a few friends.

“I like to shop at Walmart and Target first to see if there is good stuff there,” said Wesley.

Wesley says she tries to do some online shopping because there are store that are cheap there but she doesn’t know if she can always trust it.

“I think that some of the online stores are scams and sometimes the stuff I want doesn’t come in time. But when they do come, it is really worth it especially for the good price is comes at,” Wesley said.

Wesley said that overall she would prefer to go to stores that are cheaper so she could get more items for more people than more expensive stuff for less people.

Senior AHS student Fran Penny says she has a different perspective.

“I think that it is more important to get a quality present for the ones who mean the most to you,” Penny said.

Penny says it shouldn’t matter how much the present is, but it is important for them to know you spent a good amount of money on it.

Penny says, “I understand why people would want to buy a bunch of presents for a bunch of their friends but I don’t think it’s convenient. Sometimes students feel left out when they don’t get presents but it’s all apart of life.”

Penny said, “It should really come down to the people who have been there for you through it all.”

Penny says that when you spend more time on a presents it really makes the other person feel good.

Penny says, “Personally I pick four friends to spend a good amount of money on and then put together a quality card. I would not be able to do that if it was for ten people. It just won’t be the same.”

Penny said, “Quality over quantity.”
