Senior Night for Girls Lacrosse
Senior night for girls lacrosse took place on May, 3rd, 2017, at the field hockey field next to the Mullet Center, in between Arrowhead’s north and south campus.
Prior to the senior night ceremony, Arrowhead’s junior varsity white went head to head with Arrowhead junior varsity red at 5pm. Junior varsity red won the game with a final score of 7-4.
Senior night is a night to honor graduating seniors, where each player’s parents come and walk down with their daughter, while the name of the college they will be attending and their future plans are announced. The senior night ceremony began around 6:15pm, and the Arrowhead varsity white game against Arrowhead varsity red game began at 6:30. Varsity red defeated varsity white by a score of 17-2.
Kaylee McGill, senior at Arrowhead and defensive player on varsity white says, “It makes me sad knowing this is my last season wearing an Arrowhead jersey. I have played lacrosse all four years of high school, and my senior year came by so fast.”
McGill says, “Senior night was really fun. It was a good way for all of us seniors to participate in our final Arrowhead experience. It makes me sad also because after this season, I may never see any of these girls again.”
“I am happy to have ended it with these girls though. I have played with most of them all for years, so we all watched each other grow skill-wise. It’s going to be really hard to say goodbye, and senior night reminded me of that. It was fun to play the other varsity team because their team is a majority of seniors, and I have a lot of friends on that team, and it’s fun to play against them, rather than playing with them,” McGill says.
The team still has games to play in their conference, and their next varsity white game will be monday, May 8th at the Arrowhead field hockey field. They will be opposing against Brookfield.
“I am really looking forward to playoffs this year, and I am hoping to make it as far as the State Championship at the beginning of June” McGill says.
Girls Lacrosse State Championship is located at Carroll College on June 9th, 2017.
