Baked In a Cupcake was founded by a Bella Pitzo, an Arrowhead sophomore. Pitzo bakes cupcakes and sells them to the public. Every dollar Pitzo earns goes to Operation Dream, which is an organization that helps inner city kids from Milwaukee pass high school and pursue their dreams and life goals. She started this business early February of 2016.

Pitzo says Operation Dream can’t provide the proper education of inner city kids alone. They need help and donations to be able to provide the unprivileged kids of Milwaukee with the education and life lessons they need to be able to make it in the real world. That’s where Pitzo comes in.

Pitzo chose Operation Dream to donate to because, she says, “It is very local and personal for me. After meeting the founder Rodney Bourrage, I couldn’t turn away because everyone involved in the program is amazing and have such huge hearts. The boys are incredible and deserve so much more than what life has given them, so I want to do everything in my power to give them what they deserve.”

Baked In a Cupcake has donated $1,768 dollars to Operation Dream.

Pitzo said, “Katherine and Sophie from Georgetown Cupcakes really inspired me because they built their bakery from nothing and they are so successful. I visited Georgetown cupcakes in June 2015 and it really inspired my baking. Seeing some of the kids in Milwaukee struggle and realizing most kids in the city don’t have simple things like a place to sleep and their next meal really inspired me to start donating to charity.”

Pitzo has been baking her whole life, but she says she never truly got into baking until August 2015.

Pitzo said, “I created Baked In a Cupcake in January but didn’t start officially selling until March. I recently created my social media pages this past summer.”

Pitzo says she looks forward to selling more cupcakes and donating that money to the Operation Dream foundation. People can purchase her cupcakes through her Facebook webpage (https://www.facebook.com/Baked-In-A-Cupcake-1127296433983049/) and make an order. When the buyer places an order, he or she can choose to donate as much money as they want. When Pitzo sets up at events to sell her cupcakes, they cost one dollar for a regular sized cupcake and three dollars for a jumbo sized cupcake.

Pitzo has been helping Operation Dream one cupcake at a time, and intends to keep donating to give the underprivileged kids of inner city Milwaukee a chance to reach their dream. You can order as many cupcakes as you want as long as you donate. Find her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Baked-In-A-Cupcake-1127296433983049/.
