Is Arrowhead’s Cross Country Team Better Than Ever?

Sophomore Karley Adams and Sophomore Cameron Nowicki are runners on the Arrowhead Cross Country team.  Their season started about a month ago and the team trains almost every day since then.

Adams is currently training with the varsity runners.  “It’s competitive, it’s a nice challenge.  I do workouts, normal runs, and Saturday long runs.  Most days have been hard with the heat but it’s always nice getting back with my team,” she says.

This year they have done something new with the team by splitting them up for more competition.  This means half the team goes to one meet and half goes to the other.  This way they will have more competition thats not just their own team members, Adams says.

Nowicki says she is excited about her second season of high school cross country.  But She injured her knee in the first two weeks of the season.

“I haven’t had much training yet because of my knee.  I was out for a week and stayed on the bike most of the time doing things for my injury,” Nowicki says.

“I’m two weeks behind and haven’t had a single race yet, but I’m just starting practice again and I feel enthusiastic,” she says.

The cross country team has a meet next week in Janesville, and both Nowicki and Adams are going to have to work hard to place, says Adams and Nowicki.
