Arrowhead Students Kick-Off their Summer at Milwaukee’s Music Festival, Summerfest

From the big red smiley face to the endless radio discussions most of Arrowhead students have heard about the world’s largest musical festival, Summerfest. Students attend this festival to have a good time socializing with friends, and to listen to many different genres of music.

Summerfest takes place on Milwaukee’s waterfront from June 29th to July 3rd and again from July 5th to the 10th. Buses are available in many different locations including; Delafield, Waukesha, and Madison to take people to and from the summerfest grounds. Kaitlyn Beth, a senior at Arrowhead, stated, “Buses are a great alternative to driving down to Milwaukee. It helps students save money on gas, and ensures parents that their kids will reach the waterfront safely.” There are also many options when it comes to purchasing tickets. A 11-day power pass is sold for $110, a 5-day pass can be purchased for $85, 3-day passes are available for $48, general admission costs $20, and weekday general admission is $13. Each day Summerfest will be open from noon to midnight.

Many popular artists will be attending Summerfest this year. Selena Gomez, Jason Derulo, and Pitbull are some of the more popular artists. There are also smaller performers such as Elle King, 311, and Cam. Many Arrowhead students purchase tickets to their favorite performer’s months before they arrive at Milwaukee. Natalie Jones, a senior at Arrowhead High School, said, “I am especially excited to see Luke Bryan perform because me and my friends love country music, and have had our tickets for months.” Summerfest wouldn’t be as successful if it weren’t for all of the singers and performers. It’s the main reason people attend this festival multiple days in a row.

Overall, Summerfest is a fun event that many Arrowhead students attend. They use this time to visit their favorite artists, discover some new ones, and socialize with peers from their classes. This festival, although pricey, creates many summer memories for Arrowhead students and allows them to start their summer off with a bang.
