Arrowhead High School enriches students with technology

Arrowhead High School is to bringing individualized learning opportunities to their children by bringing their own technology or device for education.

Students are required to bring a laptop or Chromebook to school. Students are able to login to the Arrowhead Wireless WI-FI to access Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Drive, and other commonly used networks that the school uses.

By a poll from majority of Arrowhead students, the results were that most own portable devices that they use for educational purposes.

Located inside of the libraries of North and South campus, there is secure lockers for all students. The lockers allow the students to individually charge their device safety while still being in class. The locker has a personal lock system where you’re able to locker your device in the locker with your own personal lock code.

Colleen Baber, a senior at Arrowhead High School, says she enjoys having her laptop with her at school.

“I never have brought my laptop before this year when it became required, but I have enjoyed it so far and find it really useful. I am able to access my Google Drive and my teachers a lot faster than I ever have before.”

Baber says doing homework and assignments on her laptop has made her become more organized by eliminating having papers in her backpack.

“I found myself more organized this year because I wasn’t getting so many papers from my teachers because most of my homework assignments were on Google Drive or through Google Classroom,” says Baber.

Morgan Merbeth, a senior at Arrowhead High School, says isn’t fond of the increase of  technology.

“I think that it’s more of a distraction than a learning tool. I find myself distracted with my device instead of actually doing what I’m supposed to be doing in class,” says Merbeth.

Merbeth says it’s helping her get used to how college is supposed to be.

“I know that colleges are using technology enriched methods of learning more, and even though it doesn’t work for me as much as it should, it will help prepare me for what the future holds,” says Merbeth.
