Hiding in the Open: New Play at Arrowhead
The play called Hiding in the Open is about the Holocaust Survival Story based off the lives of Sabina and Helka Schwarz. It is a true story of two Jewish girls from Poland who “hide in the open” in Germany during the Holocaust. Ruth Lied plays is one of the lead roles in the play. Lied is a senior at Arrowhead and she is very excited for the play.
Leid’s Character, Sabina, is the oldest sister and Leid says, “My character, Sabina, often daydreams. Being an older sister, she has a tendency to be controlling, and is also a tad bit boy crazy!”
Leid says, “The last play I was in was in 6th grade and it was The Kind and I”
“Hiding in the Open” is about two Jewish sisters who survive WWII by pretending to be Polish girls working in Germany. This play is full of suspense–there are lots of close calls where the girls almost get “found out,” says Lied.
The performances are May 8 and 9 at 7:00 pm and May 10th at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm
The tickets sell for $8.00 during lunch hours at both campuses and any remaining seats will be sold at the door. The sales will begin on April 7. Only 100 seats are sold at each performance.
“I tried out for the play this year to get out of my comfort zone; I liked doing plays in middle school and elementary school, but I hadn’t done one since then,” says Lied.
