Arrowhead Students Get Excited for Summerfest Bands

Beginning on June 25th and ending on July 6th, Wisconsin’s annual music festival, Summerfest, will be open for people of all ages. Summerfest offers music, food, games, and shopping. Arrowhead Juniors Alyssa Recknagel and Kara Vana say they are looking forward to all the activities Summerfest has to offer this year.

Recknagel says she attends Summerfest a few times per year and spends a lot of money on food, shopping, and bus rides.

“I can only afford to go a few times per year because everything there is so expensive. The price of admission and the bus to get down there each day adds up. And that’s not even considering the amount of money I blow through eating there and shopping there,” says Recknagel.

Vana says her way of saving money is by purchasing the Power Pass. The Summerfest Power Pass is sixty dollars and gets you into Summerfest all twelve days at any time. Local Pick N’ Saves sell Summerfest’s Power Pass at the end of May.

“The Power Pass is expensive, but it’s a lot cheaper than spending thirteen dollars for admission each time I want to go,” says Vana.

Recknagel and Vana say they are very excited for this year’s musical performance lineup. Headliners at this year’s Summerfest are Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Outkast, Brad Paisley, and Fall Out Boy & Paramore. Side stage bands performing at Summerfest include Nas, New Order, Brand New, The Head and the Heart, Airborne Toxic Event, Timeflies, Rusted Root, Atmosphere, and more.

“I’m most excited for Brand New, Atmosphere, and The Head and the Heart,” says Recknagel.

Vana says she is most excited for Brad Paisley, Timeflies, Rusted Root, and Best Coast.

“I’m just happy I’m getting the Power Pass because I will be able to see every band that I want to without having to worry about not having enough money for each day,” says Vana.
