Varsity Girl’s Soccer Team gets Ready for the 2014 Season

The Arrowhead varsity girls soccer team, coached by Scott Asher and Andy Kolokoski, is coming off of a 6-1 2013 season.

The tryouts for the 2014 season took place on Monday, March 3rd .

The team lost Michela Ongaro, who is now the goalie at D1 Oklahoma, Maddie Dallman and Sara Opie to graduation last year.

Bri Stemper, a senior on the varsity girl’s soccer team, said, “The girls we lost last year will be greatly missed. Not only the leadership they brought, but also the skill sets they individually had.”

Stemper also said this year their biggest rivals will be CMH and Cedarburg.

Last year, Arrowhead lost in the sectional final game by one to Cedarburg.

Callie Leaderman, a sophomore on the Varisty girls soccer team, said, “This season will be fun. I think we will be successful because we have some great senior leadership.”

Stemper said, “I am excited for the season to begin. It will be tough to overcome that we do not have a set goalie yet, but with good senior leadership we shouldn’t let it affect us mentally.”

“Besides the fact that we don’t have a set goalie, we have a lot of returning talent. I think we will be successful this year if we work together,” says Stemper.

In order to lead the team this year, Stemper said she is going to have a positive attitude and set good examples for the underclassmen.

Leaderman also said, “I am very excited for the season to get started.”

The first game for the varsity girl’s soccer team is on Tuesday, April 1st at Arrowhead High School against Racine Horlick.
