Garbage men are very important to our society.  They help recycle and preserve our earth.   They play a huge part in keeping the environment clean and people healthy.

Most people don’t know what happens after they take out the trash, but thanks to our garbage men, they help us out so we don’t have to worry.  Garbage men pick up garbage from residential neighborhoods, public areas, and commercial business buildings.  Then they dispose the trash in their truck or trucks. For example, they will separate glass and paper.  After they pick up the trash, they will dump the trash in a landfill.

My garbage man works in a residential neighborhood and he comes to my neighborhood on Fridays to pick up our trash.  It is important for my family and my neighbors to have separate waste bins for different items like glass, plastic, and paper.  This way our garbage man can dispose it in the right area.  To be honest, I don’t think about my garbage man or ever acknowledge him.  I just know that you take out the trash Friday morning, and he will pick it up and do all the work for you.  Most garbage men just get acknowledgement during the holidays with a little card and gift.    I think it is important that we acknowledge them more.

However, garbage men are really important to our land.  Without garbage men, people would throw trash anywhere, contaminating land and water.  Garbage would overflow so people would just throw their trash on the floor. Leaving plastic on the ground can be very harmful for animals since it is poisonous to them. This will later cause animals to die, bad chemicals released in the air, and many more negative effects.  Garbage men are essential for keeping our land clean.

ome people would even hoard their garbage in their house or car if there weren’t garbage men.  They would become very sick since sanitation is very important to our health. Also, a lot of bugs would be all over people’s cars and houses.  Everything would be so filthy.

Some people would even burn their garbage more because they don’t know what else to do with it.  This would cause many fumes in the air.  Too much carbon dioxide in our air can be very harmful.  It would cause animals to die, global warming, and sickness.  Garbage men exist so we don’t have to worry about this.

Some people may even argue that garbage men are more important than doctors. Bob Wallace, in his article Garbage Men & Plumbers are More Important than Doctors, agrees with this statement.  I also agree with this. They take away all the filth from our life keeping sanitation at a high therefore making our lives healthier.

As you can see, garbage men play an important part to our lives.  They help eliminate contamination, sickness, extension, and hoarding.  I personally think that garbage men don’t get enough acknowledgements for all that they do.  Most people don’t realize garbage men help our daily lives and our environment.  So maybe next time you see you garbage man, acknowledge him and say thank you.
