Smite Spring Season

Obey+v.+Dignitas

Obey v. Dignitas

With Masters having come to a close now would be a good time to go over the 2017 season thus far for each team.

Obey Alliance-

The Spring Split started all the way back in February, and from day one Obey Alliance has made it clear that this is their year. With NRG falling from top position it seems that the SWC 2016 finalists will take their place. If anyone was uncertain of this before, their doubts were dispersed when Obey went 2-0 against the newly top seeded Dignitas.

Team Eager-

Since the team’s formation, Eager has been incredibly consistent in their play, never seeming to fail to make it to World’s at the very least. However, this season they just didn’t have it. They dropped games on lower seeded teams and got consistently outplayed by top ranked NA team Luminosity.

Luminosity-

Despite the lackluster performance from most of North America this last split, Luminosity is still in top form. They’ve been absolutely dominant this season and are considered the only real threat outside of the EU to Obey Alliance.

SoaR-

SoaR is one of the top ranked teams in NA, and they had an amazing start to their season. However, they fell off really fast and were outshined by Luminosity in Masters.

Dignitas-

Dignitas was a very low ranked team in Season 3 never really breaking into the top four, but this season was very different. Dignitas had an incredible start shutting down NRG and other top teams dominating enough to come into masters with first seed. Despite this in the final game of Masters, Obey Alliance managed to 2-0 them becoming the favorite to win Worlds.

NRG-

As stated many times before, NRG has been SWC Champions twice before which has established them as the top team in the world, but as of late they’ve fallen on hard times. While they did qualify for Masters, they were having trouble even as the spring split began. Mid ranked teams and top ranked teams alike were taking games off of them. This is unprecedented as NRG kept their roster the same between the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In Masters they were taken down early by Dignitas.
