Spring Fling 2017

Devs+v+Pros

Devs v Pros

What it is-

The time has come for the third annual Spring Fling. Every year several well known people involved with Hirez will go down to their headquarters in Georgia. There they will have a charity stream where all donations will go to the Make a Wish Foundation. Any people who donate will be given a Cutesy Avatar Chest spin and a Radiant Chest roll.

The stream will be hosted by both Smite and Paladins casters. There will also be guests. The guests will include several players and otherwise. The guests will be Aror from Eager (Smite), Elchapo from Noble (Smite), Mattypocket a community figure (Smite), Stolzy from Eager (Paladins), Myflin from Obey (Console Smite), Allied from LG (Smite), Spiffsinister a Paladins community figure and Wolfy2032 a competitive Smite player.

The donation goals are listed as follows: $1,000- Turtle Takedown, a sumo fight, at $5,000- Shake and Bake, described as Milkshaking and Caking someone, at $7,500 there will be double the chance to get a chest drop during a stream for all of April, at $10,000 Vox will shave his head at the Masters Paladins LAN, at $15,000 there will be in game content spoilers, and at $25,000 there will be a game where the game devs play against professional teams.

More donation rewards include a Paladins Pip Rooster Brewster at $10 or more. A donation of $1,000 or more will get their choice between Archon Thanatos and Poolseidon Poseidon skins.

What happened-

There were many food based challenges and pratfalls throughout the stream. During the duration they nearly tripled their highest donation goal of $25,000. Their final total was just over $60,000.

The sumo fight went about how one would expect. Two non athletic people tug and grappled each other for a few minutes before they declared Hinduman the winner.

Taco was selected to be the one who was “Shake and caked.” So they threw shakes and cakes at her.

Vox will shave his head at the Masters Paladins LAN.

The only game content that they spoiled was the god that’s coming out in patch 4.6. The name they gave it was Ganesha. This is somewhat surprising considering the outrage from the Hindu community when Kali was added to the game. It’s been more than a year since then and the only thing they released since then was Kumbhakarna who is more of a mythological figure than a deity. So this is presumably Hirez returning to form.

Finally the game between the devs and the pro team went exactly as expected. The pros stomped the devs despite them putting in almost no effort.
