The new schedule change for Arrowhead High School implemented on September 3, 2024 has created conflicts for some students.
“Makes class a lot harder to follow,” Aaron Jahn, brother of this article’s author, said. “I liked the other schedule more because of the fact that the classes were shorter and for me it was easier to follow along in class.”
“Without a study hall everyday, it makes it feel like there are no breaks within the day,” Senior Jackson Hargreaves said. Not having a study hall everyday for some people is a big problem because they can’t do their homework there. “It makes it feel like the day is super long,” Hargreaves said.
“I wish every Wednesday was still 20 minutes shorter,” senior Jackson Beneker said. Before the schedule change, every Wednesday was shortened by 20 minutes because teachers were required to do professional development.
Although the new schedule negatively impacted some students, some things that came out of the change benefited in a positive way. “I like having my math class longer because I need help in math and making it longer helps me get more help from my teacher,” Senior Elsa Schneider said.
“I don’t find longer classes that hard to focus because my middle school was 80 minutes, so I’m kinda used to it,” senior Damien Beck said.
“I like how I get out super early every other day,” Hargreaves, who has FSO every other afternoon, said. “I like being able to get to my house around 1 o’clock.”
