A new block schedule was implemented at Arrowhead High School for the 2024-2025 school year. Every day on the block schedule has four classes of 84 minutes, instead of the previous schedule that had ten periods that lasted forty minutes.
Last year people were interviewed on how they felt about this upcoming change.
“The block schedule is unnecessary for Arrowhead. We are fixing something that isn’t broken.”
Macie Bularz, former sophomore, said.
Bularz is now a junior and said, “The classes feel really long and I prefer the old schedule”
“I can not focus on a single subject for such a long period of time..,that is asking a lot of high school students.” Emma Nettishiem, former junior, said.
Nettishiem is now a senior and said, “It is a change but it is not as bad as I thought it would be.”
Students are not the only ones who were impacted by this change.
Former Special Education teacher Stacy Arnett said, “I don’t believe that a block schedule is a solution for all classes; however, there are some classes that will work wonderfully with and give students opportunities…Until we give it a try, we won’t know.”
“I think there has been more time to go in depth with students and I really do believe that it benefits them,” Andrew Johnson, English 10 teacher, said.
People are still getting used to this change, but the school board made the decision they believed was best for Arrowhead.
