On Monday, March 18th, 2024, the Arrowhead Girls Soccer season officially began.
Arrowhead Girls Soccer has three teams: a Varsity, a Junior Varsity, and a Freshman team. Players are put on one of the teams based on their abilities and performance during try-outs.
Try-outs were open to all grades and teams consist of approximately 18 to 20 players. All teams play a full Classic 8 Conference and non-Conference schedule.
The Classic 8 Conference—that the Warhawks soccer program competes—in holds nine teams total: Arrowhead, Kettle Moraine, Muskego, Catholic Memorial, Oconomowoc, Mukwonago, Waukesha West, Waukesha South, and Waukesha North.
Returning players this year include senior Megan Hughes, senior Teagan Safrenek, senior Ava Oleniczak, senior Sophie Ignatowski, junior Brylie Walos, junior Ansley Schaak, junior Annalyse Hower, junior Ellie Pierson, sophomore Lucy Santaharam, junior Liv Burns, junior Olivia Guadagno, sophomore Amara Leppla.
Senior Megan Hughes says, “I’ve been playing with all of [the girls] for a long time so I’m excited to finish out my senior year with them.”
Seniors Oleniczak and Ignatowski are both committed to Purdue University Northwest and University of Illinois-Chicago respectively. Walos is committed to Valparaiso University and Fitzgerald is committed to St.Louis University.
New players on Varsity this year include freshman Elise Gremban, sophomore Addison Nekich, junior Avery Fitzgerald, freshman Chloe Fitzgerald, freshman Lyla Birkenstock, freshman Aubrey Willo.
According to the Arrowhead Soccer website, the Arrowhead Soccer program has adopted the motto, “Working on a Championship while building character.”
Practices are held every night after school and last for about two hours. The soccer practice fields are located in front of North Campus and home matches take place in the soccer stadium located next to North Campus.

Last season, according to MaxPreps, the Warhawks competed in the WIAA Girls Soccer Tournament and beat Sheboygan North in the Regional Finals 2-1 before falling to Hamilton in the Sectional Semifinals 3-2.
The girls went 11-5-1 overall last season. While having won five out of two in their conference games.
This year, Girls Soccer had its first game postponed on Tuesday, April 2nd due to weather conditions. The Warhawks next game is scheduled for Friday, April 5th at 7 p.m.
Hughes says, “I think we are going to be really good this year and I am really excited.”
