Spring break this year for Arrowhead Union High School, took place from Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, until Sunday, March 30th. Students had one full week off of school.
During spring break, students had the opportunity to go on vacation or a staycation and stay at home the whole week.
“I stayed at home most of the time, but I also went to Chicago for a day trip and to the [Wisconsin] Dells during the weekend,” says senior Sofia Iacona.
According to wunderground.com, the average temperature in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was 39 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the week.
“It was pretty cold and rained for most of the time. Wednesday though was kinda sunny and warm,” says senior Brittain Wittig.
Students that traveled to neighboring states, experienced similar temperatures and weather conditions. In Illinois, the average temperature was 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
“In Chicago, we went shopping and so I bought a T-shirt with Chicago written on it and a dress from H&M,” says Lacona.
Some students traveled out of the country for a tropical or wintery vacation, while others traveled within the States.
“I went to Maryland for four days. I also went to Washington DC for a day. [I] had a lot of fun and I am so grateful that I had the chance to see other states. I enjoyed the drive because I could see different places,” says senior foreign exchange student Johanna Wimmer.
Students who had a staycation took advantage of having a full week to not stress about school.
“I was at work five days of the week and when I could, I would bike and go to the gym in my free time. On Sunday, I went to my grandma’s for Easter and played cards with my family,” says Wittig.
This year, Good Friday and Easter Sunday were in March—on the last weekend of spring break.
“My host family and I went to the [Wisconsin] Dells for Easter and walked around there. In the evening we got some pizza,” says Wimmer.
