On Tuesday, February 14th, the Girls Basketball Varsity team played against Mukwonago. The Warhawks won 60-32, propelling them to Classic 8 Conference Champions. Currently, the Arrowhead Girls Basketball have a record of 20-2. The next Girls Basketball game will be on Friday, February 16th at Arrowhead High School at 5:30 p.m against Catholic Memorial High School.
Junior Gabby Haas says, “I worked really hard in practice to prepare my team and we worked together as a team to make it happen.”
In the Classic 8 Conference, Arrowhead will finish in first place heading into Regionals that will start on Tuesday, February 20th.
Closely behind Arrowhead, Catholic Memorial will most likely finish out their year in 2nd place with a conference record of 9-2 and overall 22-2.
According to WISports, Arrowhead held Mukwonago’s Bre Hingiss to seven points and a 25% field goal percentage.
Senior Abby Robel says, “We reflected on the last time we played them. and knew we had to come out even harder than last time because we knew they would match our energy.”
According to MaxPreps, Senior Erica Bub has a field goal percentage of 50% followed closely by Sophomore Presly Samz with a 44% field goal percentage.
Robel says, “At the beginning of the season, we didn’t have our full team and we faced a lot of injuries. But now we’ve come together as a team as we’ve gotten the players back that has led to our success.”
Going into Regional play, sophomore Natalie Kussow has an average of 3.1 steals per game and 0.9 blocks per game.
On Friday, February 9th, Kussow reached her 1,000 points mark in a game against Muskego, scoring 28 points.
The Girls’ Basketball team is ranked #2 in the WIAA Girls Basketball Tournament and will play the winner of the Janesville Parker and Waukesha North/South game on Friday, February 23rd.
Earlier this season, Arrowhead beat the Waukesha North/South team two separate times by the scores 101-39 and 73-26. The Girls Basketball team has yet to play Janesville Parker.
According to Hudl, Samz led in assists against Mukwonago with 4 and Kussow and Libby Gilmore both had 3 assists.
Haas says, “I am really excited to see how far our team goes in the postseason. Winning conference definitely was a confidence booster.”
