Arrowhead students had a snow day on January 9, 2024. Students were informed that they were having a snow day shortly after the school day ended on January 8th.
On January 9, 2024, there was a snowstorm throughout the day, and did not stop until later that night. In the Milwaukee area, it snowed between 1.5- 2.5 inches according to the data from the National Weather Service.
Students were informed through Arrowhead High School’s Instagram about the snow day on January 8, 2024. “Due to severe weather conditions, Arrowhead High School will be closed tomorrow, January 9, 2024. Please be safe.”
After school events hockey, basketball, and gymnastics were canceled due to the snow day.
Senior Kate Taylor said, “Ava and I went sledding at Nashotah Park.”
Nashotah Park is a 44-acre park off Highway C that consists of woodlands, wetlands, hills, and grasslands. Inside the park, there is also a dog park. The park is open from 5 AM-10 PM every day.
Senior Marina Evans said, “I literally slept all day.”
With the snow day and having school off students were not assigned any school work for the snow day.
Arrowhead High School has one snow day saved in the calendar. If there happens to be another snow day in the school year the snow day will be a virtual learning day for students.
On this virtual learning day students will have to log on to Zoom for every class for their attendance and either stay on the Zoom call to do school work or do work on their own off the call.
If the school does not have a virtual learning day for students on the next snow day then the school has to make up the snow day at the end of the year.
The day that would be made up would be May 24, 2024.
