Exams are starting next week, and even though they can be stressful, most students take advantage of getting together with their friends or relaxing after the last exam on each day which runs until 12:50 pm.
Students and teachers make plans after exams since they are a half day so then students can relax before they have to take the next round of exams the next day.
English Teacher David Gierach says, “I will spend the first day after exams going over everything and making sure I’ve got them graded as soon as I can. The other days I will be spending time with my family and enjoying the break that we have, since we have a three-day weekend after exams.”
Grades for the first semester are due January 18th at the latest, which is the last day of exams. Grades are usually posted soon after students take the exams, and even during the afternoon, when students are off for the rest of the day.
Freshman Natalie Sattler says, “I’m going to spend a lot of time with my friends. We will hang out at my house for a while, FaceTime with my family, and maybe even bake some cookies with my family, since I like to bake and spend time with my family.”
Some students also spend the afternoon studying for the next day’s exams as some students’ exams the next day might be even more important than the morning’s classes because some classes are harder than others and can be spread out across the three days.
Freshman Neve Turner says, “I’m nervous for exams. I have no idea what to expect, so every day when I go home, I am going to be studying so that I know that I am well prepared for the next day of exams. I hope I do well, and I hope studying and continuing to study helps.”
Exams can pose stress, so both campuses will be providing therapy dogs to come in for the students to hang out with during the twenty-minute passing periods.
