Elly Smith-Skwierawski is a former graduate of Arrowhead High School. Smith-Skwierawski graduated from Arrowhead High School as a senior in 2019.
While at Arrowhead, Smith-Skwierawski was involved in various musical theater productions put on by the drama department, run by Maralyn Markano. She was a member of the stage crew for musicals and played the sousaphone in Arrowhead’s marching band.
“Being in stage crew and marching band was probably my favorite activities to participate in,” says Smith-Skwierawski.
Aside from the drama department, Smith-Skwierawski took classes such as Health, English, Math, writing class, parenting class, and photography. Currently Smith-Skwierawski attends The University of Milwaukee. She says she’s pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Education, for grades kindergarten through ninth grade.
Smith-Skwierawski says she particularly favored Rayen Elmergreen, a language arts teacher at Arrowhead High school and called her a mom-like figure who supported her through everything.
During her experiences at Arrowhead, Smith-Skwierawski says she was able to develop thoughts about her four years of high school.
“My favorite memory was my acting class final project, being able to direct the dance numbers and the story line,” says Smith-Skwierawski.
Looking back on her high school years, Smith-Skwierawski has one main thought. “Honestly, I miss the simplicity of high school. I miss the marching band and stage crew more than anything,” she says.
