Emily Biwer is a senior at Arrowhead High School. She says she has gone through ups and downs throughout her years at AHS, but has tried her best to stay on top of all the work and stay determined and driven.
Biwer has aspirations of being an architect when she is older. She wants to go to Penn State or an east coast school such as New York University. There she aims to study abroad for at least one year, specifically France or Italy, or any part of Europe.
Biwer said, “ If I had the opportunity to, I would travel to a different country over the weekends from where I currently would be studying abroad.”
For the first couple years of her career, she plans working with a firm. However, she eventually wants to be self-employed and run her own company. To do this, she wants to minor in business to learn how to run her own company and learn the things that go with it.
“I want to build custom residential homes for families in upstate New York or Manhattan, while also working on skyscrapers, interior architecture, and apartments,” Biwer said.
In order for Biwer to achieve that goal, she has taken the courses ‘Civil Engineering and Architecture’, ‘Basic Concepts of Art and Physics’, enrolled in the Tech Ed Youth Apprenticeship, and has been a part of the school’s art club. By being enrolled in the Youth Apprenticeship, she gets the opportunity to try to have an internship and work with an architecture firm before she goes off to college.
While Biwer has had a good academic career, it is also important for her to have time for herself. She balances all this by giving herself about an hour each day to focus on her studies. With her spare time, she goes to clubs, hangs out with friends, and works.
