The Wisconsin Education fair travels to schools around the state to inform students, parents and counselors about universities, military branches, and specialty schools.
According to the Wisconsin Education Fair’s website, the fair has “the goals of coordinating and improving the flow of information about post-secondary educational opportunities to high school students in Wisconsin.”
The fair was at Arrowhead’s North Campus Tuesday, October 17th from 6 pm to 8 pm.
According to an email sent by school counselor Todd Reineking, “there will be over 80 post-secondary institutions in the Commons at Arrowhead’s North Campus for the Wisconsin Education Fair.”
Universities send representatives to travel with the fair and speak to students about applying or to answer any questions students have about the university. Many representatives give out brochures with additional information.
“I went to the fair but I was disappointed because they had very few out of state schools,” says senior Emily Biwer.
The WEF website suggests students bring specific questions to ask schools they are interested in. Some suggested questions are “What are your application deadlines and how much to apply?” and “Tell me about your most popular programs. What makes them so popular?”
One university that attended the fair was the University of Wisconsin-Madison. According to the University of Wisconsin-Madison website, the early action application deadline for the fall 2024 school year is November first 2023 and the standard application deadline is January 16th 2024.
The last school the fair visited in 2023 was Lakeland University. The fair will continue traveling around the state in March of 2024.
