On Friday, October 6, 2023, Arrowhead High School held its first state march for senior golfer Lia Maxwell.
Senior Lia Maxwell says, “ It was a cool experience to have recognition from the school and to celebrate it with my family and teammates, also the hawk walk can be weird when you’re the only one going to state but I believe other teams would enjoy it way more.”
The march started at approximately 2:15 p.m at south campus where Maxwell walked around with a band, the athletic director, teammates and her mom.
The classes at north campus were required to come out of their classrooms and into the hallways at 2:28 pm. The classes at south campus were sent out of their classrooms at 2:15.
It took five minutes to navigate all of the south campus hallways. After the walk up to south, it took six minutes at the north campus.
Senior Ashlyn Fidalgo says, “I think it was a really good way to show the athletes here at Arrowhead their successes and achievements.”
Principal Adam Kurth, said to AHS staff in an email, “Thanks to the staff who had students out and fired up to support Lia! Special props to Broadway Company and Grace who cheered like no one was watching!”
Kurth’s email also stated that “We’ll have another for girls tennis in two weeks. The goal will be to provide even more energy with each Hawk Walk.”
