Meet Senior Annika Nielsen

Next year, 17-year-old senior Annika Nielsen is planning to attend Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Nielsen plans to major in nursing on a pre-nurse practitioner track. Her goal after graduating college is to become a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist). 

 

“I’ve always been interested in interacting with people and how anesthesia works. I also think it would be a fulfilling career,” said Nielsen. 

 

To lead her to the path she wants to go down in work after college, she’s worked as a pharmacy technition at Walgreens and is currently working as an EMT at the Hartland Fire Department. 

 

During high school and currently, Nielsen’s participated in volleyball and softball on the school’s teams. 

 

For softball, Nielsen played varsity her sophomore through senior years, and as for volleyball, she played varsity her junior and senior years. 

 

At school, she says she’s always liked to stay involved whether it be with sports, friends, or clubs. Along with her athletics, she was on the NHS executive board, president of the Chinese club, and she was a HOSA member. 

At home, Nielsen has been raised by her parents Kris and Rob along with her older siblings Nick, Zach, and Alyssa who all also attended Arrowhead High School.
