Spring Sports Preview
Monday, March 20th, marked the first day of spring this year. With warmer temperatures soon to be on the way, spring sports are on the rise again.
On the boys side, baseball, golf, lacrosse, tennis, and track and field are included in spring sports. On the girls side there’s lacrosse, soccer, softball, and track and field.
Senior Reese Stapleton said “We have our first game this Wednesday, so I’m predicting well win that one. With how our practices have gone and how we’re starting to navigate how to play together as a team with a lot of younger girls new girls it’s been hard to adjust. But I think with the direction we’re going in and once we develop more as a team we can do really well.”
For Arrowhead’s boys baseball and girls soccer team, tryouts began this Monday, March 20th. Boys and girls lacrosse started on March 6th along with boys and girls track and field. Girls softball began on March 13th and the boys tennis team’s first practice will be held next week on Monday, March 27th.
“Seeing that we won our first game against the team that we lost to in sectional finals last year, I think it’s going to be a great season,” said senior Brea Turnacliff who is currently on the varsity team.
The team they lost to at last year’s sectionals was Sussex Hamilton.
Arrowhead’s website states that returning sophomores through seniors can turn in their physical cards in on the academic registration day or students can turn in all materials and fees prior to the start of whatever season they may be participating in.
All athletes green cards (if needed), annual athletic online permission form, online concussion form, online WIAA form, and any outstanding athletic fees must be paid and submitted in order for students to participate in sports before the start of its season.
