Boys Ice Hockey Post Season Highlights
The Boys Ice Hockey team consists of 20 players and 9 seniors. With a record of 18-6-1 this season they began their post season on a high note. The team had defeated Marquette High School on Friday, February 19, 2022 at Arrowhead High School with four goals while Marquette had one. This win made them regional champions.
With the win against Marquette last week the team now advances to sectionals. The sectional game originally was supposed to take place on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022 at University School of Milwaukee at 7:00 p.m, but due to the weather, the game was switched to Wednesday February 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. at University School of Milwaukee.
Senior Zachary Wolverton says, “We have had a lot of challenges this year not just personally, but overall with the team dynamic in general. It was really hard this year having a bunch of new players and not having played with a lot of the kids before. We had to get comfortable playing next to a lot of new players and it took some time. I also had an ankle sprain recently which also was a huge setback for me personally, but I am back now and have been content with my level of play.”
If they are the victors of the game on Wednesday, the team will advance to the sectional finals where they will play the winner of the Brookfield versus KMMO game.
KMMO consists of Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago, and Oconomowoc high schools.
The sectional finals will be Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Arrowhead High School at 7:00 p.m.
Wolverton also says, “I think this season is actually going very well. We are finishing better than we are starting the season because our forwards have started competing extremely hard and we are all on the same page about our goals, and our goals for state.”
