The Band Stamps wraps up High School Nation Concert
The High School Nation Concert tour hit Arrowhead High School last Friday, September 27th. The band Stamps were the last performers to finish up the tour. The band includes Ren Patrick, the voice of the band, and Adam James, the drummer for the band.
Stamps member Ren Patrick says the band has a “CD for sale called Stamps that has nine songs on it and we should be coming out with more songs next month.”
Patrick, who co-writes the band’s music, says, “ we actually have two other albums but its completely different music so she doesn’t really talk about it. It was very indie, sixties influenced”
Stampstheband.com says the band now has now “changed their genre and are now a modern – electro pop music.”
stampstheband.com says, Stamps brings brash honesty and personal stories to topnotch musical craftsmanship, writing their own songs, performing their own instruments, and defining a style that is, appropriately, all their own.”
Alyssa Amann, a junior at AHS, says” I thought Stamps was really good… Overall I liked them a lot.”
Patrick is a very experienced signer and says, “I have been singing since the womb.”
Patrick didn’t start singing in a band. She says “ started singing musical theater and opera”.
It wasn’t until she “moved out to LA three years ago to develop my career.” That Patrick began starring in a band.
Patrick loves to sing “pop music, rock, and anything from the sixties,”
Patrick says her influences include, “Paul McCartney, Paul McCartney, Paul McCartney.”
Patrick is an experienced performer and says this is her, “fourth time doing the High School Nation tour, which is about 60 shows.”
Patrick also added, “that she has sang internationally before when she was a part of the international jazz festival.”
Being a part of High School Nation allows Patrick to travel and perform all over the country.
Patrick says “I enjoy living on the road; I feel like a gypsy,” traveling from place to place.
Patrick says she loves “to see the people I care about all around the country.”
Of course all of this singing can put a strain on a person. Patrick says,” when you play shows every day, it’s really hard for your voice.”
Patrick doesn’t let that stop her from performing. She still loves to, “jump around on stage,” to pump up the crowd and put on a good show.
Overall Patrick gave a good impression to the students of Arrowhead and inspired students to express themselves through music.
Sara Heyerdahl, a junior at AHS, says “I really liked her (Patrick) she was so nice and welcoming and a great performer.”
