Students Reflect on Prom, 2019
Arrowhead High School held prom on Saturday, April 27th, 2019. It went from 6:15-11:30PM, at the Ingleside Hotel. The theme was Midnight in Paris.
“I had a lot of fun at prom because my date was so great. He asked me with a wooden sign that said ‘WOOD you go to prom with me?’ I said I wood.. It was very cute and the dance was even better with him,” says senior Abby Fritz on her promposal by Karl Hahn.
Students were asked to pick a meal in advanced for the Ingleside Hotel to prepare for the dinner at prom. The choices were grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, baked salmon, or vegetarian tortellini. Some students had mixed reactions.
“I didn’t have a problem with the food. I mean it wasn’t stellar by any means, but I thought it was alright. I didn’t expect much from a hotel that also doubles as a waterpark,” says senior Cece Phillips.
“The food made me feel really weird after I ate it. My date and I ended up not even eating all of it because it tasted so weird. We both had the grilled chicken. When we were dancing for a while, I could feel the chicken starting to like come up, so I had to stop and get some water before I did anything else,” says sophomore Ross Fritz.
Students said the decorations were better than last year’s decorations, when the theme was enchanted forest.
“The decorations last year…Nothing about it felt elegant or like a prom dance. The decorations should have been better considering the amount of people paying for tickets. They should have had enough money for better ones…This year’s were actually really nice. I thought that the flowy curtains and ribbons hanging from the ceiling were a nice touch and everything felt just like what you would expect to see in a movie about a high school prom,” says Phillips.
