Girls Tennis Team Wins Award
A few weeks ago the AHS Girls Tennis team found out they won the Classic 8 Sportsmanship Award.
This award this award is solely based on sportsmanship. The award is voted on by all the Classic 8 head tennis coaches at the end of the season.
Ella Tschurwald, a senior at AHS and member of the Girls Tennis Team, says “I think that the team worked really hard this season and this award was a great recognition for the effort all the girls put in.”
Cindy Ziegler-Fritz, the head coach of the Girls Tennis team, says “My girls are very gracious players whether they win the match or lose. Sportsmanship is something I focus on as coach because I believe it is important both on the court as well as off the court…I believe my girls did a really good job of that this year.”
Kathy Wang, a senior and a captain of the Girls Tennis team, says “I was so excited to hear that we won this award. I believe that this group of girls definitely deserved it! We also had a very successful tennis season. Not only did we win matches, but we were very respectful to the other teams—on and off the court!”
Ziegler-Fritz says, “ It is hard when you lose a tight match but you always need to hold your composure…I know the girls are really happy they received this award. They work really hard during season and off season.”
Wang says, “This year we had a great group of friendly and supportive girls and I’m glad that I ended my senior season well!”
Tschurwald says, “Everyday the team would take at least two hours to practice and train, even if they had homework and other activities they would put tennis first. I was proud of every single player and seeing how hard everyone worked to get us to a successful season.”
Ziegler-Fritz says, “I know the girls are really happy they received this award. They work really hard during season and off season.”
Overall, the entire tennis team is very excited and grateful that they were awarded the Classic 8 Sportsmanship Award.
From the coaches and captains of the team, “We are all very proud of how much we accomplished this year, and we can’t wait to keep pushing through and keep on striving for greatness.”
