Time for TWIRP, but First a Week of Dress Up
This year Arrowhead High School hosted TWIRP. It took place on February 10th, at Arrowhead High School. The dance has begin at seven o’clock and end at 11 o’clock. Tickets are ten dollars and can be purchased at lunch or in the office. TWIRP stands for “the woman is required to pay.”
Leading up to the dance, each day the week before, there were dress up days. Monday’s theme was pajama day, tuesday was country club, wednesday was workout day, thursday was grandparents look a-like and friday was flannel day.
AHS Senior Caylen Berg says,“This year I am excited to go to the TWIRP dance, but I am not happy with the dress up choices. They aren’t the best they could be and not many people know about it, so no one is really participating in it. I feel like there should be more signs around the school so more people are aware of them. They should advertise them kind of like how they did it for homecoming.” Berg said her favorite theme is “Flannel Friday.”
“I would say that I am most excited for the Friday Flannel theme mainly because I love to wear flannels and it is a unique theme. I feel like it is easy for most people because so many people have flannels,” she said.
Berg said she had a few suggestions on how she could change TWIRP to make it fun for everyone. The Student Senate club runs TWIRP and sets it up.
Berg said, “I feel like a lot of people would want to go to TWIRP if they played good music. Last year’s TWIRP had bad music so I assume this year has be the same. I would be a lot more fun with good music. If more people came that would be the best time. I always feel like events are always more fun if more people are there.”
AHS senior Tessa DeQuardo says she is not going to TWIRP.
“I went to TWIRP last year and I really did not enjoy it. It was nothing compared to Prom or homecoming. I decided not to waste my time this year by spending lots of money and time,” DeQuardo said.
DeQuardo said this year there was little to no advertising about the themes or dress up days.
“I think that there is little to no advertising done about the themes of the dress up days and that if they actually want people to dress up they should broadcast it on the announcements and I overall haven’t heard much about it. I think they should tell people what the dress up days are the day before or put up bigger or more signs in the hallway,” she said.
Although DeQuardo doesn’t like the dress up days that much, her favorite one would have to be pajama day.
“Personally I do not like any of the themes, but I would have to say Pajama day is my favorite theme because it is original and is very comfortable,” DeQuardo said.
