Arrowhead Food Drive Helps Those In Need
Last Friday, November 17, Arrowhead completed a food drive to give back to those who need food.
According to www.arrowheadschools.org, the food drive allowed for students to donate non-perishable foods to boxes during their third hour classes. The list of usable foods included canned veggies, bottled juice, peanut butter, and granola bars with canned pasta, hamburger helper, spaghetti sauce, canned fruits, and brownie mix all being on the highest priority. You could also donate non food items such as baby wipes, cleaning supplies, or personal hygiene items like soap and toilet paper.
The items went to fellow community members. Boxes also went into the lobbies of both North and South Campus, along with posters.
Furthermore, a presentation on www.arrowheadschools.org claims that 635,657 people lived in poverty in Wisconsin according to a census taken in 2016. In addition to that, 545,622 Wisconsin students participated in a free or reduced lunch everyday at school with a total of 236,697 children living in poverty in 2013. To counteract this, Hartland area food pantries serve over 3,000 people every year.
If you’re looking for a food pantry to donate to, according to www.foodpantries.org, the North Lake Food Pantry serves people in within the AHS district and is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM in the basement of the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church.
