Harry Styles Continues First Solo Tour in Chicago

Ex-One Direction member Harry Styles brought his first solo tour to Chicago this past Tuesday, September 26th. The Chicago Theatre, with a capacity of 3,600 according to its website, was sold out for the show. His past two tours with One Direction have both been stadium tours, with an audience capacity ranging from 40,000 people to 84,000.

Mitchell Wnuk, a sophomore at Arrowhead High School, attended the show with second row seats.

“After only seeing him through the screen of my phone, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Seeing him that close really changed my perspective because he is so much more beautiful in person,” says Wnuk.

After touring for five years with One Direction, Styles took two years off before announcing his first ever solo tour, ‘Harry Styles Live on Tour.’ He’s traveling out to thirteen venues in the US, then taking nine months off before kicking off once again in Europe.

Aly Morton, senior at University Lake School, has been a One Direction fan ever since watching their film documentary, ‘This Is Us’, back in 2013.

Morton says, “It was kind of weird to see him without the other members of One Direction. But, he put on an amazing show and I feel very proud of his success as a solo artist. I knew the second I heard his album he would continue to have a great career.”

His debut album, self-titled ‘Harry Styles’, was released May 12, 2017. This was just five and a half weeks after his first single, Sign Of The Times, was released. The album was number one in eighty-four countries for almost four weeks according to billboard.com.

“One of my favorite things about his concerts is all of the love. He gives speeches on equality and waves huge pride flags at every show. He puts an end to all labels and for one night everybody gets to be themselves,” Wnuk says.

On a similar note, Morton says, “You get to dance like nobody is watching because he makes the environment feel so safe and non judgemental. I couldn’t choose a better artist to idolize.”

Styles will continue his tour this Thursday, September 28th, at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
