Arrowhead Football Team Tackles Kettle Moraine in Latest Win
In the fourth game of Arrowhead’s football season, the team took home a win after defeating Kettle Moraine. Arrowhead held the game at their home field this past Friday night.
Though Arrowhead’s football team began the season with a 1-2 record, the 85 player roster mustered the strength to outscore the neighboring school 28-25.
Senior running back Zach Hastings put up our first touchdown in the first 6 minutes of the game. Following, senior Jeff Holtz had two touchdowns and junior Jacob Schleicher had one off of a punt return.
“It was great to get a win after losing two in a row. I knew we could do it,” says senior JJ Oehmcke.
Oehmcke is a wide receiver on the team who had two catches for 21 yards on Friday.
He says, “No one got hurdled for once, and our defense outplayed their offense. The locker room felt like Disney World. We were all so happy and nothing could tear us down.”
The theme for the student section was a gold out, originating from the G9 foundation. The G9 foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the funding for childhood cancer. It was began by Arrowhead’s Annie Bartosz in 2011 after losing her own brother to cancer in 2012. In 2014, the organization was recognized by Aaron Rodgers, who walked door to door with Bartosz to raise money.
Erin Schaubel, a senior at Arrowhead, says, “This is my favorite theme to do at games. Nothing can beat having a great time while knowing you helped with something great. The enthusiasm in the student section has never been better.”
The boys will suit up this Friday night to play at Waukesha South, who have yet to win a game this season.
