Arrowhead Students Attend Summer School
Summer school at Arrowhead gives students an opportunity to retake a class and replace their grade, or complete credits outside the traditional school year.
The way Arrowhead summer school is set up is that you can take two courses at Arrowhead per day. A student can only sign up for two summer school classes at the school, but can sign up for multiple online courses that will allow them to take more than two classes per day.
There are many choices this year for summer school, and all information one would need on this year’s summer courses can be found on the arrowhead website. As you can see here.
Harry Smith, a sophomore at Arrowhead says, “I wanted to take gym in the summer. It seems like fun and then I wouldn’t have to take gym during the school year.”
Some students, like Smith take summer school as a choice, while other students are forced to take summer school if they want to pass the class. If a student fails a class, they would normally have to retake it the next year, but summer school gives them an alternative to taking it during the school year.
Chris Ollice, a sophomore at Arrowhead says, “Yeah I have to take summer school for math because I got a bad grade in it this semester.”
Summer school goes from June 12th to July 20th, and is every Monday through Thursday. That is the case with in-school classes, but online classes are all determined by the instructor.
There is a three absence rule. So if a student misses three or more classes in the summer, their grade will automatically be dropped to an F, and they will fail the class.
In order to register for Arrowhead summer school, students must go to Skyward, click Arena Scheduling, which is located on the left, and then search and select the courses to enroll.
