Heavy Snow and Freezing Rain Hit the Arrowhead Community
This week’s temperatures (December 12th through the 16th, according to Weather.com, say that on Friday, December 16th, in Hartland, Wisconsin, they are expecting Winter Storm Decina with heavy snow, and freezing rain.
The high for Thursday was 7 degrees, with a low of 0 degrees, and a “feels like” temperature of -11 degrees.
Erin Walmer, senior at Arrowhead says that her dad constantly reminds her to “make sure you fill up your gas tank, make sure your tires are pumped, and you stay bundled up. The weather on Thursday is supposed to be in the negatives.”
Walmer says, “The winter is my least favorite season because I am just a really cold person and I absolutely hate being in the cold. Living in Wisconsin is hard in the winter, with temperatures dropping below 0 degrees—it’s terrible.”
Walmer is looking forward to the summer weather. She says, “The perfect temperature is sunny and 75 degrees.”
Oldine Paulsen, senior at Arrowhead, says, “I love the snow, but I hate the cold. I am so excited for Friday, when the snow comes.”
“The snow signals Christmas, and Christmas is almost here, I love Christmas,” Paulsen says.
“I am not allowed to drive in the snow because my mom doesn’t trust my driving, and doesn’t want her car busted. I am a pretty good driver, I don’t know what she is talking about,” Paulsen says.
When Paulsen was informed of Winter Storm Decina hitting the Arrowhead community late Friday night, she said, “I am so excited because it gives the planet a little more pizzaz. It makes everything look so much prettier.”
It is also the season now for skiing and snowboarding, and Paulsen says, “I am so excited to go snowboarding this year.”
Kaylee McGill, a senior at Arrowhead, says, “It is so cold in the school too, it’s clearly not as cold inside the school as it is outside, but I still wear my jacket inside—otherwise I will freeze.”
McGill also says, “I am also very bad at driving in the snow, so I get super stressed every time I have to. And, it’s annoying to have to start your car before you go somewhere, otherwise you will not be able to see out your windows.”
