Trumps Victory Has Negative Effect
There has been a lot of controversy over Donald Trump’s winning of the election. On November 29th, Donald Trump won the election to be 45th president of the United States. It impacted many American adults, but how did it impact the children?
According to
https://www.splcenter.org/20160413/trump-effect-impact-presidential-campaign-our-nations-schools, Trump’s win has effected student’s in schools from across the nation in a negative way. The results from an online survey produced by Teaching Tolerance prove that Trump’s win had a negative impact on students and classrooms. The outcome of his win is making a high level of anxiety between children of color and increasing ethnic tensions in the classroom. Students fear deportation and racial inequality. And on an even worse note; Teachers have seen an increase in bullying and harassment between students whose races and religions have been targets of Trump’s campaign. This makes it hard for teachers to stop the horrifying treatment of their students because it’s based on politics, because if a teacher shows his or her opinion about the election, they can get fired. Making it difficult for the teachers to solve this issue.
Harry Smith’s, a sophomore at south campus says, “A lot of people are experiencing problems with this election, especially the outcome, after the election ended there were lots fights over social media such as instagram for example a person would post a picture about how they feel about a candidate and others would reply with mean and cruel comments.
Kids are called names in the hallway all the time. They make deportation and race jokes. The kids think it’s funny and it’s just a joke, but they don’t see how much their jokes can actually affect someone.
Trump’s victory has had a completely negative effect on students as shown in https://www.splcenter.org/20160413/trump-effect-impact-presidential-campaign-our-nations-schools. Let’s step back and take a minute to open our eyes to the world around us and realise how wrong and unfair adults and teens have reacted to this election.
