Country Christmas Lights Up the Night
This past Christmas, the Country Springs hotel, located in Pewaukee, celebrated it’s 20th year producing the “Country Christmas Light Show.” The trail is located on Country Springs’ property and contains over one million lights. The lights were displayed throughout 40 countryside acres, and the Christmas Light trail spans over one mile.
According to Fox 6 News, the Country Christmas Light Show is the largest drive through christmas lights display in Wisconsin, with over one million lights.
“I went with all of my friends in a Jeep over Christmas break. Even though it was cold, we had the Jeep’s top off so we could see the lights better. We were bundled up in warm coats and lots of blankets. It was so beautiful and full of holiday spirit,” says Isabel Case, a senior at Arrowhead High School.
The light display was open from November 27th to the 29th for Thanksgiving break, and reopened on December 4th. The display reopened until December 31st. It’s hours were 5-9pm Sunday through Thursday, and 5-10 pm Friday, and Saturday..
The cost was $15 per carload, and $25 for limos, mini-coaches, and large passenger vans. Debit and credit cards were not accepted at the door, cash only. However, tickets could have been purchased online. Vehicles must be 22 feet or under to enter the Country Christmas trail.
Admission into Country Christmas trail also included admission into the two buildings at the end of the trail, Christmas Village and the Streets of Bethlehem.
“I didn’t attend Country Christmas Lights this year, but I usually go every year with my family. It’s a great start to the holidays and it always makes me super excited to see all of the Christmas lights that people will be putting up all around Hartland,” says Rachel Guidinger, a senior at AHS.
In the Streets of Bethlehem, guests were able to walk through a collection of nativity characters. The central display for this year was a Nativity scene, including baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. It’s was an almost life-size replica of the display that can be found at the Vatican.
“The nativity scene is always my favorite because it’s so life like. It reminds me of the true meaning behind Christmas, which is easy to forget when there’s all these colorful Christmas decorations and bright lights surrounding us,” says Guidinger.
Christmas Village is home to an extensive collection of model train displays including six trains that run through four levels of different animated scenes. In addition, there was an area to take holiday photographs and also a concession stand where guests could purchase a variety of foods: milk ($2.75), holiday cookies ($3.00), hot chocolate ($3.00), eggnog ($3.00), coffee ($2.25), cappuccino ($3.25), dippin dots ($5.00), bottled water ($2.25), soda ($2.25), cotton candy ($4.00), and gelato ($5.00).
