So… What’s Next?
So you have graduated: no more standardized tests, tardies, or being called to the office. You have heard your full name called, walked across the stage, and accepted your diploma with a handshake.
When high school is officially over on June 4th, 2016, what do students of the class of 2016 plan on doing?
“Four days after I graduate, my grandma is taking me to New York City. It is my graduation gift and I am really excited.” said senior Grace Kust.
“Right now, all I know is that after I leave here, I can go to bed without waking up and thinking about high school ever again.” said senior Micah Gissible.
Graduation may seem like an event in the far distance, because students have thought about it since freshman year, but in all actuality it is 164 days away, including weekends.
It will take a lot of effort not to fall into a routine of sleeping in and playing all summer. Although it seems like free time, it is more maturing into an adult time. We no longer will have the excuse of saying ‘we are high schoolers’ to avoid serious responsibility, like looking for a way to provide for yourself, getting a job, and what your are going to do for this period of your life.
Senior Brianna Gates said she, “plans on working all summer and then when the fall rolls around, might be going to UW-Waukesha to get a few credits.”
Miranda Schilse, a senior at Arrowhead, lined up a job in Sussex that will allow her to transfer with the same job only five minutes away from the UW-Green Bay campus.
After high school comes the hard work, even though high school was at times rough. Reality is that the end of high school is not the end, but the beginning, so get ready for the battle and keep up the fight of faith.
This is going to be a new chapter of life and it’s hard to stay the same, so change for the good.
