Arrowhead Powderpuff team prepares for the ultimate faceoff
Powderpuff is an all girls football team face off that involves the juniors and seniors of Arrowhead high school. This year’s Powderpuff game with occur Sunday September 27th at 2:30. With help of Arrowheads football team the girls are having practices and being coached by these players.
Each year a group of junior/senior girls come together to play a game of Powder puff. This game usually happens the Sunday after Homecoming week. The week before homecoming includes a variety of activities that students and the community participate in.
The annual parade kicks of the week. Spirit week, Hawkfest, and the Friday Night Football game are all activities that lead up to the girls game.
In total around 30 girls play this game. Senior Arrowhead football player, Head coach Mike Olson, of the the senior team, teaches these girls what it takes to be a real footplayer.
Quarterback of the Arrowhead football team senior, Johnny Duranso also helps the Senior girls find where to run, how to tackle and how to be safe.
“I expect this years seniors to play inspired football as they know this is the last they will touch the field. I also expect our team to come out and execute the gameplan our coaching staff has put in place. Coaches coach and players play.” Head Coach Senior Mike Olsen said.
This game of Powder Puff has been something Arrowhead Students look forward to each year.
Senior Johnny Duranso says, “ Play like it’s the last time you’ll play because it will be probably be your last.”
With the help of some of the Arrowhead Senior Football team including: Tyler Jones, Nick Bastien, Parker Redman, Ryan Thiel, Will Boelter, Teddy Orlando, and John Mack, Arrowhead Senior girls get support and knowledge from true Athletes.
With this game just around the corner, the Arrowhead Seniors have been practicing to test their their skills of Football.
This upcoming Sunday, September 27th Arrowheads Powder Puffs team will be playing at Centennial Park in Hartland at 2:00 pm.
