The Aftermath of Prom: Was it Worth the Hype?
Now that seniors’ final Arrowhead dance is over, the halls have filled with gossip of who went with who and who wore what.
Students have also been expressing their own opinions of the dance, the food, the dj, the decorations, and much more.
Emily Landry, an Arrowhead senior, says she went to prom and had a pretty good time.
“I went in a group with my friends Gabby Dyke, Megan Quinlan, Simone Nielsen, Kassidy Tarala, Kassidy’s date, Patrick, Coco Catalano, and Coco’s date, Lauren,” she says.
Landry says she had salad, chicken, and chocolate cheesecake for dinner but didn’t really like the chicken.
“My favorite part was dancing because it was really fun to dance with my friends and have a good time,” Landry says.
She says she didn’t know some of the songs, but they were still fun to dance along to.
“My least favorite thing was the dj because he changed the songs too quickly, so halfway through one song he’d start playing another,” she says.
Landry says she didn’t dance to any slow songs because she just wanted to dance to the faster pace ones with her friends.
“After prom I slept over at my friend’s house with the rest of our group. We watched Prom the movie and had snacks,” she says
Landry says overall she is glad she went to prom.
“I had a lot of fun, and it was a one-time thing, so I’m glad I got to experience it. Especially with the greatest group of friends,” she says.
Unlike Landry, McKenna Kling, an Arrowhead senior, did not go to prom.
Kling says she went to Madison with her family to celebrate her mom’s birthday.
“We got dinner, walked around State Street, and then we got dessert. It was a lot of fun,” she says.
“I’m glad I didn’t go to prom because I didn’t want to go without a date, and it was really expensive, so I’d rather save my money or spend it on something else,” Kling says.
She says it was nice to have a night away from Hartland and Arrowhead and spend it with her parents and her younger brother, Keenan.
“I’d rather get free food with my family than spend $80 on prom and not have a very fun night,” Kling says.
She says she is going to UW-Oshkosh, so she is trying to save up her money and not spend it on things like prom.
“I’m a nanny on some weeknights, and I work at Panera on weekends, so I like to save the money that I work for. I want to have the ability to buy myself things in college and not waste my money my senior year of high school,” she says.
Kling says she didn’t go to homecoming this year either because she went her freshman, sophomore, and junior year and didn’t have a very good time.
“I guess high school dances just aren’t for me, but that’s okay. I know that some people love them and others don’t. The important thing is that we spend our final year at Arrowhead with our friends and the ones who are important to us,” Kling says.
